There's nothing more relaxing than being able to sit at my sewing machine and make something (undisturbed).  A couple of weekends ago I was able to do just that, and made a cute pair of baby yoga pants from the Meet me at Mikes book.  Such a great simple pattern which I was able to complete in about an hour.  Hope you like them.....

My Space

I now have my own room after re-arranging the childrens bedrooms for all my sewing, crafting, blogging and escaping. 

Now all I need is more hours in the day to get creative.

Having one of those days with plenty of mummy meltdowns, I was pleasantly suprised when I recieved my fabric from SewMamaSew.  It came beautifully wrapped with a thank you card attached.  The quality of the fabric is amazing and the designs are better than pictured.  So glad this arrived today, it's definetely what I needed.

Last time I blogged about crochet I successfully knew how to do a single crochet and that was it.  I am proud to say I have now mastered the double crochet, along with the triple crochet and a half double stitch.  Although still slow while keeping my eyes fixed on the needle, I find crochet so relaxing now and love seeing the progression from a simple ball of wool.  The pictures are the start of a throw rug I'm doing for the couch.

Inspiration

While waiting for my wool to arrive I have been getting a little excited at starting something new.  I borrowed a book on crochet from the library to find inspiration and found myself falling in love with the shopping bag and clutch.  While I know I won't be able to make them straight away, it's something  I can work towards.

Now the stalking of the postman begins so I can start my next project.

The Gold Coast just wasn't itself today.  Rather than the usual warmth of the winter sun beating through the verticals, it was dark, miserable and cold.  A perfect day to sleep in and stay warm, read a book, have a long bath, and watch a movie, IF I didn't have little people that needed me.  Instead I visited a friend and left a bigger version of myself after consuming alot of her delicious choc chip cookies.  I spent some of the afternoon sewing and finishing projects.  I finished a quilt, and made an old dress into a skirt and continued 'trying' to crotchet.  At the moment i'm starting to crotchet a scarf, but by the time I finish it, the Gold Coast will be back to its summery self.  I'll keep trying.

Today I went to my first ever antique auction held at the local uniting church to raise money for their op shop. While perusing the tables I found some beautiful pieces of fabric and an apron that I fell in love with. Prior to the auction starting I browsed the cute little stalls out the front of the auction room filled with baked goods and homemade crafts. Among the homemade crafts I found two gorgeous library bags and instantly imagined how my boys would be using these in the years to come.

While admiring my new fabric and crafts, I find myself anticipating the next antique auction where I will be in the search of more treasures.
